About Aster Vale
A small software company working on an unglamorous problem.
What we do
Aster Vale Technology builds Aster Vale Register, a hosted workspace for recording critical systems, documenting how they depend on one another, and keeping continuity evidence in a state where it can be produced on request.
We work with technology teams in mid-sized organisations — large enough that no single person holds the whole picture, small enough that nobody has a dedicated configuration management function.
Why this product exists
The problem is not that organisations lack the information. It is that the information is distributed across a spreadsheet, a diagram, a ticketing system and several people's memory, in a form that answers questions only when someone with context is available to interpret it.
That works until the question is asked at an inconvenient time — during an incident, during an audit, or on the day someone with a lot of context leaves. The value of writing it down is not the document. It is that the answer stops depending on who is in the room.
How we build
Deliberately narrow. The Register records systems, dependencies and evidence. It does not monitor, alert, score, discover automatically, or tell you whether you comply with anything.
Products of this kind tend to expand until they overlap with monitoring on one side and governance platforms on the other, and become worse at the original job in the process. We would rather be the thing that holds the record accurately and exports it cleanly.
How we sell
Annual contracts, published pricing on request, and no obligation to sit through a discovery call before seeing the product. If it does not fit, we would prefer to establish that in the first conversation.
We do not have a partner programme or a reseller channel. Support is provided by the people who build the product.
Where we are
A distributed team across two time zones, with support hours covering standard business hours in both. We are not a 24/7 operation and do not describe ourselves as one.
